  • Meet with Mrs. Meras to check over your notes and shore up any missing details before check-off tomorrow  Wordly Wise - Lesson 14 Intro

  • Read chapters 31 through 34 in First Light.  Lit. circle responses due Monday, May 16

Wednesday - May 11

Agenda:

  • Declaration of Independence intro. today. We will translate the document into modern language and begin analyzing the important themes and ideas.

Homework:

  • Read chapters 31 through 34 in First Light.  Answer your literature circle questions by Monday.
  • WW 14 A/B/C are due tomorrow.

 


Thursday - May 12

A Day

Agenda:

  • Correct WW 14 ex. A/B/C
  • Finish up DOI translation and analysis. We will discuss this activity as a class to fill in any holes.

Homework:

  • Read chapters 31 through 34 in First Light.  Answer your literature circle questions by Monday.
  • D/E in Wordly Wise are due on Monday.  Your test will be next Wednesday.

 


Friday - May 13

B Day

 Today is our field trip to the Minnesota History Center.  Check back next week for a link to our field trip website.

Homework:

  • Read chapters 31 through 34 in First Light.  Answer your literature circle questions by Monday.
  • D/E in Wordly Wise are due on Monday.

Agenda:
  • We will spend the hour working on the first shot assignment. 

Homework:
  • Complete chapters 19 - 23 in First Light by tomorrow.  Your original 4-6 lit. circle questions and responses are due tomorrow. 
  • Wordly Wise Lesson 13 D and E are due tomorrow.
  • First Shot assignment is due tomorrow if you did not finish it in class.

Tuesday - May 3:
B Day


Agenda:

  • We will begin the class with a debate about who fired the first shot at Lexington and Concord. 
  • Students will share their lit. circle questions and responses and turn them in to be graded in place of a reading quiz.
  • We will also correct Wordly Wise 13 D/E.

Homework:
  • Study for the Wordly Wise Lesson 13 test.  It is on Thursday.

Wednesday - May 4
A Day

Agenda:
  • It is time for the annual persuasive paper assignment. We will use the issue of climate change that is prevalent in First Light. Students will take a stand on this issue and write a persuasive paper in support of their position. Guidelines will be given, and time will be given in class to research and draft the paper.

Homework:
  • Study for the Wordly Wise Lesson 13 test.  It is on Thursday.
  • First Light reading: chapters 24 - 30

Thursday - May 5
B Day

Agenda:
  • Wordly Wise 13 Test
  • Research/Work time for the persuasive paper. Students will have time to do some reading in order to choose a stance. Once they have made their choice, they may begin researching specifically for their paper.

Homework:
  • First Light reading: chapters 24-30
