Celebrating Birthdays
Birthdays
You are welcome to send a treat and a drink to
school to celebrate your child's birthday. If your child would like to do this, please let me know a
day or two in advance for scheduling classroom time for the celebration. It is
also very helpful if you provide napkins, plates, cups or anything else that is
necessary for serving the treat.
State health guidelines suggest that "no home-prepared foods" be served
in schools. Instead they suggest
using "commercially prepared foods."
I also ask that you refrain from sending birthday cakes to school. Individual items work much better when
serving a large group of children and please make sure everything is one flavor
as to avoid hurt feelings if one flavor runs out before another. Also, if
sending drinks, please make sure they are all one flavor. If
your child has any food allergies please make sure I am aware of them to avoid
any incidents in the classroom.
Students whose birthdays fall during the summer
months may celebrate their "half birthdays" (i.e., June=December, July=January,
August=February) or you are welcome to send in treats in June if your child would
like to celebrate before the end of school.
Please do not send birthday party invitations to
school unless everyone in the class is invited.
