Classroom Rules
Classroom Rules, Rewards and Consequences for Room 112
The following four classroom
rules have been discussed with the students in Room 112.
- Raise your hand and wait to be called upon
before speaking. (Unless its
is an emergency.)
- Follow directions the first time they are
given. Be a good listener!
- Treat and speak to others in the same way that
you would want them to treat and speak to you.
- Have all necessary supplies ready at your desk
when they are requested by the teacher. Anything not requested should be inside your desk.
When students make positive
choices to follow these classroom rules, they will receive positive
reinforcement and recognition through the use of the following:
- Stickers: Stickers will be handed out to
students for making positive choices about schoolwork and following
classroom routines. These
stickers may be placed directly on an assignment or students can attach
them to one of their folders.
- Tickets:
Another way in which I will be reinforcing and recognizing the
positive choices students make is through the use of tickets. These tickets will be handed out
then I notice or when another student or teacher informs me that a student
has done something nice or makes a good choice. These tickets will be saved by the students for special
classroom rewards. The more
tickets the students collect the sooner they will achieve specific
classroom reward goals.
- Certificates: Positive choices that an individual student makes can
also be recognized by presenting the student with a certificate noting
his/her positive choice or accomplishment. Students will be able to take their certificates home
to share with their family.

It
is also important for the students to be aware of the consequences that will
occur if they should choose to not follow our classroom rules. The following consequences are in
place.
1.
The first time
during the day: I will remind the
student of the rule that he/she did not follow.
2.
The second time
during the same day: The student
and I will quickly discuss the choice he or she has made and how a different
choice might be a better option.
The purpose of this time is to give the student a few minutes to think
of a better choice that he/she might make and share it with me.
3.
The third time
during the same day: The student
will return one of his/her earned yellow tickets to the ticket box.
4.
The fourth time
in the same day or if it becomes a pattern: The student's parents will be notified by me that their
student has had to receive several reminders about a particular rule or
behavior in class.
5.
The fifth time
in the same day or if the behavior pattern continues: The student will meet with the Lower School Director.
**Please Note**
All of our rules are founded
on the basic principle of respect for people and property. Therefore, if a student would choose to
be disrespectful to another person by being physically aggressive, or if a
student would choose to be disrespectful by damaging the property of the school
or the property of others consequence #1 (above) would be bypassed and
consequences #2, 3, 4 and 5 would all be implemented.
