We are starting our algebra unit and working on our review games.  We have 4th and 7th graders lined up to play our games in a couple of weeks!

May 3 - 7

We will be finishing our graphing unit this week and taking a test.  There are some additional things with graphing that I will cover next week that are not on the test.  I am also pushing for all students to finish their TOPS this week and I will introduce "Creating a Game" as a cumulative review for the year.  We will play them with each of the classes as well as with some other grade levels.

April 26 - 30

We are continuing with our graphing unit and as Mr. Reimers put it "controlled chaos at its finest!"  All of the students are working at their own pace, and it seems to be working out.  Please be sure to check powerschool for the assignments.  You now can click on "Math" and see all of the assignments and due dates entered.  Thursday is our field trip to Feed My Starving Children and planting oak trees in Mounds Park in St. Paul

April 19 - 23

We are trying a new way of doing our graphing unit.  Students will be setting personal goals for their "grades."  Graphing Assignment  I have been using this graphing unit as a means for students to collect data and reinforce measurement skills.  For example, the data table that they drew for their scales/intervals table was 6 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches with 1/2 intervals to collect their data as they weigh miscellaneous objects on a triple beam balance.  Again, a huge thanks out to our parent volunteers!

April 12 - 16

We have review this week for the ERB testing, and minimal homework.   The homework assignment from me is to get a good night's sleep and a good breakfast.  At the end of the week we will be starting in on data collection, graphing and interpreting graphs.

April 5 - 9

Can you believe that it is fourth quarter already?  This week we will be reviewing in preparation for ERB's next week.  We will be winding down our stock market game this month and have a guest speaker (a VP with US Bank) during advisory.

March 15 - 19

We are trying to keep a lid on it until spring break.  Tuesday we have centers and Thursday we will have a test on surface area, volume, perimeter and area.  On Thursday afternoon we will be going to the Maplewood Community Center to have a fun field trip, and on Friday afternoon we will have the Mental Math Bee as well as community service activities around the school.

March 8 - 12

This week we reviewed subtracting fractions with renaming, were exposed to multiplication and division of fractions and investigated py on Monday, reviewed perimeter and area on Wednesday and did area of a triangle, area of a circle, and volume and surface area of a rectangular prism on Friday.  We will continue to work on these new concepts next week.  We also checked on our stocks, and thankfully we are doing better.
