Math Club earns gold

Our math club earned gold status in the MATHCOUNTS club program. To earn gold, we needed 12 club members to complete 5 monthly challenges and then earn 8/10 or better on the Ultimate Math Challenge. We had more than twice that number of club members reach that goal!

This is the 4th time in the last 5 years that our math club has earned gold. Only four schools in Minnesota earned gold status. Congratulations to our math club students!

MATHCOUNTS Chapter Results

MPA finished in 1st place at the North Capitol Chapter competition on Saturday, February 4th. The team was in 4th place after the two individual rounds, but had the highest score on the team round to move into 1st place!

Team members were Zoe, Collin, Susie, and Sofie. Participating as individuals were Karsten, Josh, Ingrid, David, Sophia, and Amanda. Zoe was 5th individually, and Karsten was 9th individually out of 90 students on 14 teams.

As a result of their 1st place finish, the team will continue on to the state MATHCOUNTS competition in March. This is the 6th year in a row that MPA will be represented at the state competition!

Mounds Park Academy finished in 3rd place at the MATHCOUNTS North Capitol chapter competition on Saturday, February 5th, only 1/2 point away from qualifying for the state competition!

Individually, 8th grader Matt E. finished in 1st place. Matt will continue on to the state competition as an individual.

7th grader Collin H. finished in 11th place. Also participating were 7th grader Zoe W., 6th grader Susie K., 7th grader Sofie N., 7th grader Josh S., 7th grader Karsten D., 7th grader Kian D., 7th grader David R., and 8th grader Jose D. Most of our participants finished in the top half of the 92 students who participated.

This is the 11th time in 16 years that students from Mounds Park Academy will participate in the state MATHCOUNTS competition!


MATHCOUNTS team qualifies for state!

Our MATHCOUNTS team qualified to participate in the state competition by finishing in 2nd place at the North Capitol chapter competition on Saturday. This is the 4th year in a row and the 10th time in 15 years that MPA students will participate in the state MATHCOUNTS competition.

Team members were Nick (3rd place individually), Matt (7th individually), Katie (10th individually), and Marisa (15th individually). Nick also placed 2nd in the Countdown round. We also had four students participating as alternates competing individually. Kethan (32nd place individually), Kei (34th individually), Ryan (44th individually), Aniket (66th individually).

There were 14 teams and 80 students participating.

Math Club earns Gold

Our Math Club earned gold status in the MATHCOUNTS club program again this year.

To earn gold status, club members had to complete six monthly challenges, then at least 12 Math Club members had to earn 8/10 or better on the Ultimate Math Challenge. We had 14 members who met that requirement, with 12 earning 9/10 or better.

We will receive a banner recognizing this accomplishment in May.

The MPA Math Club earned Gold Level recognition in the Math Counts club program for the 2007-2008 school year. Club members completed monthly challenges and had 80% or better correct on the Ultimate Math Challenge. Only 2 schools in Minnesota and 184 in the nation earned this recognition.
