I.  Share/turn in map assignment 3.

II.  Map quiz.

III. Colony organization.  As we move forward in our Discovery! simulation, today the students will organize their colonies.  They will learn if they're a government, private company or religious freedom colony.  Colony members will choose a colony name to help form a group identity. 

IV.  Colonies will start designing their group flag.  Each colony will create one large and multiple small flags to represent their colonies.

V.  Homework:  Read chapters 11-13 in the book Making Thirteen Colonies

Friday, 11/21

I.  Discuss chapters 11-13.

II.  Continue work on colony flags.  The flags need to be completed by the end of class today.

I.  Reading and bookmarks for chapters 1-6 in book Making Thirteen Colonies due.  Discuss readings, in-class writing assignment based on readings.

II.  Test on Thursday, 11/6 on chapters 1-6.  If you make notes, you can use them on the test!!

II.  Homework:  Read chapters 7-9 in Making Thirteen Colonies.  When you're done with the reading, you need to complete the writing assignment that was distributed in class.  Please remember to type your written work, and remember that it needs to be double spaced!  You can find the written assignment guideliens here:

Wednesday, 10/22

I.  Start work on the colonization of North America with primary emphasis on the British colonies.  In-class reading/writing assignment (may be homework if not completed in class) of chapters 1-3 from the book Making Thirteen Colonies by Joy Hakim.

II.  Optional rough draft of First Americans research assignment due.  If you turn in a draft, I will get it back to you no later than Friday, 10/24.

Friday, 10/24

II.  Introduce First Americans Independent Research Assignment.  Today we'll review the regions where the First Americans lived, and the students will start work on their mini notes.  Each student needs to find some information on 3 separate regions and record them on their mini notes worksheets.  You can view a document pertaining to the regions here:
