Welcome
David Siegel's senior speech last year inspired me to consider posting a "Head of School's" blog. So here it is.
I realize that hosting an online discussion open to comments from others carries with it a certain degree of unpredictability. Please help me make it possible to support open dialogue on issues of interest by abiding by our guidelines for respectful discourse.
Some of the issues I look forward to writing about include our campus master planning and the impact on facilities, our recently concluded work on a draft mission statement, and other goings on at school.
Blogging, in and of itself, is a topic of considerable interest to me. Issues of free speech, respectful sharing of ideas and opinions and the impact of personal online diaries on a community such as ours are just some of the questions facing blog authors and readers. I am very excited about David's challenge to us to have all MPA students creating their own blogs. At the same time, I believe we have lots to do to understand what it means to post our thoughts in a space that can (and will) be read by the global community.
MPA continues to be a place where people (like me) can learn and be challenged by new opportunities and new ways of doing things. I look forward to watching the medium develop at MPA.
