Fourth Grade

Create a Newscast
1. Choose an event to report.
2. Write a script for a newscast.
3. Edit your script (peer and teacher).
4. Rehearse with your group.
5. Film.
6. Import and edit film.
7. Share.



The fourth graders have been introduced to the program Scratch. In the next month we will be exploring this programming application in conjunction with their studies of Ancient Egypt.

State Research

|
Goals for State Project
Locate reputable online resources to use for your state research.
Work collaboratively with your peers to constructively critique.
Use of a video camera to film and import video.
Use video editing software to create your project.

Final Project
Produce and star in a 30-60 second commercial advertising the state you are researching.
Your commercial will be showcased during the "Parade of States" celebration.

Steps to Follow
Research - Use the outline summarized below to guide your research.
Storyboard - Organize the ideas you want to present. A template for storyboards can be found in Pages.
Film - Use a flip cam, built-in camera on your computer and/or your own video from home. Media must be in digital form and accessible by USB, SD card (from a digital camera) or cd/dvd. Short video can be email to Mrs. Gaida too. ngaida@moundsparkacademy.org
Import - Transfer video to iMovie.
Edit - Cut clips, arrange clips, add transitions, titles, etc.
Export - Convert project so it is accessible on our blog.
Share - Reveal your final project during the "Parade of States".

Include at least five facts from your "State Report and Research Outline" completed during the research phase.
