- Introduce world religion essay assignment. The initial overview for this assignment can be found here: Religion Research 1.doc This document will "grow" as more information about this assignment is added!
- You are about to embark on a religious study research assignment. The general topic is world religion, and you need to use the following website to help you throughout the research process; it is important that you become familiar with this site as it is an excellent place to turn when you need help/guidance in your research process: CRLS Research Guide
- Today you need to spend some time becoming familiar with this site, and focus on the "Basic Steps" tab located in the left column of the homepage. Specifically, you need to be working toward focusing your research topic!
- Using the CRLS website listed above, you need to work on getting an overview of your religion before the next class period. Tip Sheet 3, titled "Getting an Overview," states, "Notice the way the information has been organized within the overview. Take notes on the headings and subheadings that are used to subdivide the information. These can give you some possible ways to help focus the topic of your paper. In a short book, look at the table of contents for subtopics." Your homework is to take/make notes as suggested in this tip sheet. Bring these with you for the next class period; you do not have to have a completed set of overview notes by the start of the next class period, but you should have a solid start!
- You can access CRLS Tip Sheet Getting an Overview link 3 here: Getting an Overview
- Whatever "Getting an Overview" notes you have completed are due at the start of class. Bring them with you; do not email them to me!
- More of your religion research assignment will be introduced today. You can access the document presented in class here: Religion Research 2.doc You will note there is a calendar on this document, and due dates for various phases of this assignment are starting to appear.
- As per the assignment guidelines, you are expected to submit your focused topic choice and Statement of Purpose as comments to my blog on or before Thursday, 5/5 (B) or Friday, 5/6 (A). If you are unsure how to do this, please let me know, and those of you new to MPA this year need to meet with me today in the lab to establish accounts! You can access the CRLS Tip Sheet 9 Statement of Purpose link here: Statement of Purpose
- Many of you will change your Statement of Purpose after it's been posted on my blog. That is expected and okay; you do not need to re-post, just let me know.
