When do we leave? There will be a bus to pick us up at MPA (Upper School entrance) Saturday morning. We need to be at Cannon Falls HS around 8 AM, so you should arrive by 7:00 AM. The bus will leave MPA at 7:10. Remember, we paid money and hired judges to bring you to this tournament. Do not just decide not to show up. I assume no one is driving (about 35 miles), but you should let me know ASAP if you do NOT plan to ride the bus.
Tournament format: This tournament will be three rounds of competition and finals. This is a newer tournament designed to attract some of the top "Class A" competition from around the state. You'll see some of the folks we saw at St. Anthony Village, as well as some new faces. It should give you a good feel for what sub-sections and sections will be like. Rounds will probably be scheduled for 9:00, 10:15, and 11:30. There will be a lunch break after the third round. Finals should be held at 1:45 PM. Awards are scheduled for 3:45 PM. You should plan on bringing either a lunch or money to buy pizza or whatever. My best guess is that we will return sometime before 5:30 PM

There is NO BUS for this one. (I'll email you a list of who is going if it helps to arrange rides, etc.) Basically, you need to be at Roseville HS by about 8:15. Look for Mr. Studer and/or Brian Payne in the gym area (see notes below). This should be a pretty challenging tournament, and it will draw a wide range of schools. There will be three rounds, honors finals and finals.
DIRECTIONS TO ROSEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL: This is an easy one. The school is located on the north side of Highway 36 in Roseville. You can exit at either Lexington or Hamline Avenues. You cannot miss the school; it's right along the road.
* Students should enter the lower gym and coaches can proceed up the stairs to registration.
* Students can use the bleachers in the gym as "home base" for coats, etc. (not valuables).
* Concessions are available in the cafeteria. Please ask students to use cafeteria for concession consumption only. Food and beverages (other than water) should not be taken into the rest of the building, including the gym.
* Schedules will be posted in gym lobby, outside the cafeteria, and by the Judges' Lounge. Students can pick up critique sheets in boxes near the schedules.

Here are the particulars for the tournament on Saturday at South St. Paul High School. This is a three-round, no finals tournament. That means that awards are based on your performance in those three rounds. It also means a shorter tournament for those of you thinking about finals next week...
I'll be over with several Drama and Extemp. Speaking competitors at the NFL District tournament Friday and Saturday. I'll meet you at the bus Saturday morning, but Mr. Studer will be traveling with you. I won't be in the building Friday.
When do we leave? There will be a bus to pick you up at MPA (north entrance by the Lansing Center) Saturday morning. We need to be at South St. Paul by 8:10, so you should arrive at 7:30 AM. The bus will leave at 7:35. Remember, we paid money and hired judges to bring you to this tournament. Do not just decide not to show up.
*** I'm assuming that (other than Keith/Maggie) no one is planning to drive to SSP. (With no finals, it doesn't seem necessary.) If you think you need to drive, you must notify Vergin of that by the end of Thursday. Remember, it will be a shorter day on Saturday.
Tournament format: THIS MEET IS SITE-SCHEDULED. THAT MEANS THEY WAIT TO PRINT THE SCHEDULES UNTIL AFTER EVERYONE ARRIVES. THAT WAY, THERE WON'T BE ANY DROPS IN THE SCHEDULE AND SECTIONS SHOULD BE SMALLER. This tournament will be three rounds of competition and no final round. Rounds are scheduled for 9:15, 10:30, and noon. Awards are scheduled for 2:00 PM. You should be getting on the bus for our return by 2:30 PM. My best guess is that you will return by 3:15 PM. I'd recommend calling on the way home to schedule a pick-up, rather than setting a time in advance.

This information is for the students attending the Central MN NFL District Tournament: Jaya, McKenzie, Nancy, Claire, Caroline, Cera, and Sam.
Here's the scoop. You're excused all day Friday. Because I'm part of the district committee, I have some early morning responsibilities at the tournament. I'll be there before 8 AM. It makes the most sense if we meet there. I'm hoping you can carpool, etc. If anyone is driving themself, be sure to let me know. I'll copy directions below. If this is a big problem for anyone, let me know.
Friday March 7, 2008 - Eastview High School
Extemp. Speakers should arrive by 8:30 at the latest to get set up in the draw room.
Nancy and Claire are responsible for having a plan to get ALL the tubs there...
They run two flights per round, largely because all rounds have panels of three judges. So, you will either be in the "A" flight or the "B" flight. It does mean there is quite a bit of down time in the schedules, so you can either watch some other rounds, do homework, listed to the iPod, eat, etc.
General Meeting - 9:00 AM
** Everyone should be at this.

When do we leave? There will be a bus to pick us up at MPA (main entrance) Saturday morning. We need to be at Centennial HS by about 8:00 AM, so you should arrive at 7:20 AM. The bus will leave at 7:30. The draw events will begin at 8:30 AM. Remember, we paid money and hired judges to bring you to this tournament. Do not just decide not to show up.
People with other afternoon commitments: If you have other commitments, you are free to be picked up at Centennial after you are done competing. You cannot ride home with another student without a note or phone call from your parents. There will be no deviation from this policy. If you plan to drive to Centennial, you must let Vergin know by email by Friday. Otherwise, we'll see you on the bus... Of course, there will also be a bus back to MPA after awards.
Tournament format: This tournament will be three rounds of competition and a final round. Rounds will probably be scheduled for 9:00, 10:30, and 12:00 PM. A lunch break and a final round will follow. (Actually, they will have finals and "honors" finals. "Honors" finalists are the six or so people who just miss finals. They also get awards.) Awards are scheduled for 4:00 PM. You should plan on bringing either a lunch or money to buy pizza or whatever they might be selling. We should be getting on the bus for our return at about 4:30 PM or shortly after. (This is a pretty big tournament. There will be about 500 competitors.) You will be able to call for a ride as we return to MPA if you need to do that. My best guess is that we will return about 5:15 PM.
ALL STORIES AND READING CUTTINGS ARE IN THE DRAWS THIS WEEK! DISCUSSION TASKS WILL COME FROM THE SECOND AREA OF THE OUTLINE.
DIRECTIONS TO CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL:
You can take 694 West to 35W North. Take 35W to Lexington Avenue (Exit 33). Go right (south) on Lexington to stoplight at North Road. Turn left. The school is about ½ mile ahead.
Alternatively (if you don't mind more stoplights and lower speed limits), you can take Lexington Avenue north from 694 all the way to North Road where you would turn right. School is ½ mile ahead on your left.
