Janet Oliver joined us today. She brought with her 20 years of experience as a special education teacher in combination with 18 years on a team at a leading children's hospital. She presented a 31-slide PowerPoint and answered questions from the audience.
Focus Points:
What is a "psychoeducational assessment"?
Why pursue a psychoeducational assessment?
What information is collected prior to the actual assessment?
What will the assessment include?
What tests are often (but not exclusively) used?
What information is gained from a psychoeducational assessment?
She spent some time looking at how cognitive ability is measured using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- Fourth Edition (WISC-IV). In addition, she shared with the group how academic achievement is measured on the Woodcock-Johnson III- Tests of Achievement (WJ-III).
For more information or a copy of the actual PowerPoint presentation, feel free to contact either Robyn Kramer (rkramer@moundsparkacademy.org) or Patti Osman (posman@moundsparkacademy.org) at your convenience.
We have two more meetings scheduled this school year.

Lisa Pederson from College Counseling will join the Parent Group on Student Learning Meeting on February 10 to discuss how a child's learning differences can impact the college search and application process. We hope you can join us!
